Dental Glossary

Dental crown refers to the restorations with metal or ceramic materials placed on the tooth cut extensively to treat tooth decay. For extensive tooth decay, root canal therapy must be performed berore placement of the crown due to necrosis of the pulp (dental nerve). Dental crowns include a metal bonded crown, which fuses ceramics to a metal surface, and an all-ceramic crown fabricated using ceramics alone.
